candler park | historic home renovation

This full-scale renovation of a historic Candler Park residence carefully balances preservation with modern family living. Working within neighborhood historic guidelines, the original façade was retained, with existing windows, doors, and siding restored and reused.

Behind the preserved exterior, the interior was fully rebuilt and structurally enhanced. A rear addition and full basement excavation expanded the home’s footprint, while accordion doors now connect the kitchen and family room to a spacious screened porch. Original flooring was salvaged and reinstalled, and coal-burning fireplaces were rebuilt to maintain the home’s historic character.

A newly constructed detached garage completes the property, enhancing function while respecting the original architecture. The renovation celebrates the home’s heritage while creating a highly livable environment for a young family.
